Konsertissa kuullaan teokset kolmelta säveltäjältä, jotka ovat jättäneet kotimaansa löytääkseen inspiraatiota musiikkiinsa ja elämäänsä. Yksi näistä on Jovanka Trbojevic, jonka teos Zuti put oli Tampere Biennalen tilaus ja joka kantaesitettiin festivaalilla vuonna 1996. Ohjelman täydentävät tanskalaismestarin Bent Sørensenin Falling Darkness (2017) sekä suomalaisen nousevan tähden Outi Tarkiaisen Siimes (2017).

Esbjerg Ensemble was founded in 1967 as the first professional chamber ensemble in Denmark, initiated by local forces and the Ministry of Culture, and has since kept the flag flying as a role model for similar ensembles in Denmark and abroad. The ensemble plays the complete canon of classical music, is recognized for its innovative and versatile programs, and is especially known for its reliable interpretation of contemporary works.
Since the beginning, the ensemble has had a close cooperation with composers of our time, and pivotal figures like Karl-Aage Rasmussen, Hans Abrahamsen and Peter Bruun have been artistic directors over the years – a relationship that continues to develop through the annual workshop for young composers, where the ensemble first got to know namely the three now established Danish composers presented in this concert program.
The program for this concert offers a win-win: The possibility for the ensemble to add two exciting Finnish pieces to their repertoire, and the presentation of three composers from Esbjerg Ensemble’s steady network of composers to a Finnish audience. Three composers who left their home country to seek musical and personal inspiration is one suggested path in this program, alongside a Finnish shooting star and a mature Danish master.
