Seeking alternating 1st and 2nd Violin

Esbjerg Ensemble invites applications for the position of alternating 1st and 2nd Violin

Esbjerg Ensemble, known for its innovative and versatile programming performs classical chamber music with an uncompromising sense of quality. The Ensemble currently consists of ten passionate and expressive musicians from around the world, all selected for their unique qualities comprising of wind quintet, string quartet and percussion. Guest musicians for piano and double-bass are invited for programmes that require an extended ensemble.

On Sunday, 18th March at 10:00 we will be holding an audition for the violin position. The position is full-time, and the successful candidate will be required to start on 1st August 2018, or otherwise as mutually agreed.

Repertoire for audition:
First Round:
1) One of the following:
W.A. Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 3 G-major, K.216: 1st mvt. Allegro
W.A. Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 4 D-major K.218: 1st mvt. Allegro
W.A. Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 5 A-major, K.219: 1st mvt. Allegro Aperto – Adagio –    Allegro Aperto
2) J.S. Bach: Violin Sonata No. 3 C, BWV 1005: 1st mvt. Adagio

Second Round:
1)   Ludwig van Beethoven, String Quartet opus 59, No. 3 Andante con moto – Allegro       vivace – 1st violin
2)   Ludwig van Beethoven, String Quartet opus 59, No. 3 Andante con moto – Allegro        vivace – 2nd violin

Third Round:
1)   Sergej Prokofiev: Quintet opus 39, 3rd mvt. Allegro sostenuto, ma con brio
2)   Ludwig van Beethoven: Septet Es-major, Op.20   I. Adagio; Allegro con brio

An accompanist will be available for the first round and the following rounds will include participation with Esbjerg Ensemble’s members. Chamber music repertoires are sent upon request. Travel and accommodation are to be covered by the applicant. Esbjerg Ensemble reserves the right to hold the audition for a number of invited applicants.

Starting salary of around DKK 325.000 per year + pension, incremental according to employment experience. Up to 1 year of employment will be probationary. Working conditions according to agreement between the Danish Musicians Union and Association of Danish Regional Orchestras. It is mandatory for non EU-citizens that residence and work permits are obtained by the time of employment in Denmark.
